Thanksgiving in NYC

This Thanksgiving I decided to stuff myself into crowded subway cars and substitute the conventional turkey and mashed potato feast with Peking Duck and bubble tea (I love Chinatown!) I had never before seen Coney island so Mary-Ellen and I made a trek out on the Q train, braving the blustering cold, only to find out that not one single cotton candy stand was open… In fact, I couldn’t find any of the quintessential carnival wares – not a single slap bracelet or a lick and stick tattoo in the whole joint. I must say however, that the colorful signage and mechanical landscape made the trip worthwhile. There was even a board-walker lady commanding an army of angry seagulls with curly fries – that was definitely picture worthy. But, back to the bubble tea… if you’ve never had it, I strongly suggest the Taro Bubble Tea – those yummy little tapioca bead-treats go straight to my head.
